Shelby works as the Membership Manager for the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc. She graduated from the University of Colorado with her Master of Arts in American history with a minor in public history and a certificate in historic preservation with high distinction. She received her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in history from the same institution. She also earned a certificate in genealogical research from Boston University and a certificate in antiques, collectibles, and appraising from Asheford Institute of Antiques. Prior to joining the Sons staff in 2021, Shelby worked as an intern for History Colorado in their school programs, communications and marketing, and archival departments. She also interned writing speeches for former Colorado Governor Hickenlooper at the Colorado State Capitol, assisted in various museum operations at the Byers-Evans House Museum, researched historic homes for Discover Denver, freelanced writing articles for the Colorado Encyclopedia and Oldwest.org, and worked for the University of Colorado as a teaching assistant, research assistant, and served as the head editor of the University of Colorado’s Historical Studies Journal. Shelby’s first book, The Queen of Denver, was published in 2020.
