This week on the Ordinary Extraordinary Cemetery podcast, Jennie and Dianne discuss three recent cases involving historic cemeteries and preservation.
In Pennsylvania, a man is facing hundreds of charges related to alleged thefts from Mount Moriah Cemetery, a historic burial ground, and at least two other cemeteries in nearby counties. The case is now moving through the court system.
In Florida, investigators are looking into reports of personal items being removed from mausoleum niches. Authorities have identified three individuals they would like to speak with in connection with cases in Florida and several other states, and are asking anyone with information to contact local law enforcement.
And finally, Jennie and Dianne share an update on Lafayette Cemetery in Lafayette, Colorado. After the city learned that more than 150 years of inconsistent record-keeping has left the historic city-owned cemetery with less available space than records indicated, families who hold burial plots are now navigating difficult decisions. The ladies discuss the city's newly approved options for plot holders.
